After completing his chemistry degree at the University of Sheffield, Ian gained over 17 years of experience within the Food and Drink sector. His career has seen him take up diverse roles in manufacturing operations, project management and most recently the circular economy.

Within International Synergies, responsibilities have included leading the strategic and operational delivery of the UK’s National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP) and applying IS principles to industrial parks in the UK and China. Other International activity has included consultancy and training delivery in Egypt, Finland, France, Canada and South Africa.

Ian has led a number of successful construction related activities including a project to identify waste derived raw materials for the built environment and assisting Highways England to address resource criticality issues in major road schemes. Ian also helped establish MIROG (Major Infrastructure Resource Opportunities Group), which enables infrastructure providers to share resources across large scale construction projects.
